Who runs this site

MapleTax Calculator is built and maintained by NZM Tech, a Canadian technology team. We build practical, privacy-respecting tools for everyday financial questions. This calculator is an independent project, not affiliated with the Canada Revenue Agency or any provincial finance ministry.

Why it exists

Most Canadian tax calculators are slow, cluttered with ads, or quietly out of date. We wanted a fast, free, bilingual tool that shows its work: federal and provincial tax, CPP or QPP, EI, and QPIP, updated as you type, with no sign-up and no data leaving your device. Every figure traces back to an official source, and the calculation engine is covered by an extensive test suite so accuracy does not drift between updates.

How we keep it accurate

Rates are reviewed every November or December, when the CRA publishes the following year's indexation figures, and again whenever a provincial budget changes a bracket, credit, or surtax. We never carry a prior-year figure forward without verifying it against the official source. Where a figure is genuinely uncertain (for example, the 2026 capital gains inclusion rate), we say so rather than guess.
